EXPOSED AGGREGATE
Exposed aggregate concrete–commonly used in patios, walkways, and driveway borders–is more decorative than plain concrete. It can almost be compared to a piece of granite or marble transformed by polishing.
THE PROCESS
The plain concrete surface is stripped away to reveal the polished beauty the lay underneath. Aggregate size is typically 3/8" or 1/2" and the exposed aggregate mix is poured like any other concrete. Then at the correct time a retarder is applied to the concrete surface.
The concrete is covered with plastic poly to control drying. Weather conditions determine the amount of time necessary before an area can be uncovered.
Once uncovered, the surface paste is pressure-washed away exposing the aggregate gravel in the mix. Numerous colors are available to complement any decorum.
After the area dries, two coats of aggregate sealer are applied to give your new concrete an amazing finished look.
